Kerepehi Brass

Kerepehi Brass is our main band which I’m sure you will have seen at various events over the years. It has been servicing the Hauraki and surrounding districts since it was first formed in 1946. The players in this band have years of experience, advanced playing ability, and devote a huge amount of time to the band. We currently have more than 30 members in Kerepehi Brass ranging in age from teenagers through to those in their 80s! They practice on Wednesday nights at 7pm in our band hall. 2024 Start Dates
– Kerepehi Brass Band – Wednesday 31 January at 7pm
– Senior Social Band – Monday 12 February at 1.30pm
– Learners/Junior Band – TBC February at 4.15pm
Kerepehi Brass Band also has three training bands. Each of these groups caters for a specific level of ability or interest.
We recognise the issues facing all brass bands – the need to be relevant and forward thinking, to engage with new and wider audiences, and to recruit additional players, both young and old alike. We always keep an eye to the future and are encouraging greater engagement with youth, and increased participation in brass band music making for all ages.
Kerepehi Social Band

Our social group meets on Mondays at 1.30pm. This group is not restricted to brass only, so if you’ve played brass, woodwind, or percussion previously and you want to play again socially or for extra practice, come and join in! Click here for more information.
Junior Band

The Junior Band is formed with players who have the skills required to play in an ensemble, but who have not reached the standard of Kerepehi Brass. They meet for lessons on Tuesdays at 4.45pm with music tutor Clive Burnell, excluding school holidays. Click here for more information.
Learner’s Group

The Learner’s Group caters for children who want to learn a brass instrument. Members usually have little or no experience when they join, but with music tutor Clive Burnell, they will learn the basics of playing their instrument and how to read music. They meet for lessons on Tuesdays at 4.15pm excluding school holidays. Click here for more information.
